'Najib afraid secrets will be revealed'

VS

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim has described Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak’s move to commission Apco Worldwide to attack him outside the country as an act of a coward who is afraid that the Malaysian government’s secrets will be exposed.

According to Anwar, Najib paid Apco to attack him outside the country to restrict his (Anwar’s) good ties with world leaders who supported him.

He said Najib had used public funds to pay Apco to cleanse his own tainted image and that of the federal government following widespread reports abroad of corruption, cronyism and mismanagement of funds involving the government coalition.

‘He’s afraid of the shadows now, after squandering away the rakyat’s wealth, so he’s hired Apco as his agent to destroy my image abroad.

“It’s not enough that they have linked me in a qazaf case with Saiful Bukhari, they are uncomfortable with my interaction with top leaders abroad,” he said at a ceramah in Kepong last night.

Anwar said he was not afraid or intimidated by the attacks by Najib and Apco because the leaders abroad could tell who was behind the deterioration of the country.

He said the cruelty of the Malaysian government, the oppression of the rakyat and the wealth-grab by BN leaders and their families were now common knowledge.

“I am not lying, the rakyat can evaluate for themselves. (Tell me) which Umno-BN leader is not rich or has not received contracts worth millions through the federal government?

“If you are a Umno-BN leader you must be a rich man and always rich after raking it the profits from public funds.

“The BN government is the main reason why our country has regressed … we could be bankrupt soon,” he said.

PKFZ scandal

On the Port Klang Free Trade Zone (PKFZ) scandal, Anwar said Pakatan Rakyat had long ago exposed the scandal but it has taken three years for the scandal to reach the court.

"The fraudulence in PKFZ is one of the smaller profits to BN. There are bigger and larger scandals which is unknown to the public. But I know what these are.

“There are so many more BN leaders who have not been caught or investigated yet and who are still in power, helping to dig for profits to be shared by other BN leaders,” he said.

Anwar said Malaysians were fed-up with the abuse by the BN government and chose Pakatan as a springboard to change.

“Pakatan will ensure the people's rights are defended without using fraudulent means if elected in the 13th general election.

“For this, we the Malays, Chinese and Indians must unite and rise ..,” he said.

About 500 people attended the ceramah.
