PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said yesterday a strong wind
of change is blowing through Penang and Kedah, thanks to Pakatan’s
misrule of the two states. Instead of serving the people who voted them in, the DAP-led government
of Penang had misplaced policies, while the Pas-led Kedah goverment had
simply neglected its duties, he said. “Previously, people said it was
impossible for BN to wrest back Penang, but there is a strong wind of change that makes
it possible now,” Najib, on his whirlwind nationwide campaign trail
ahead of Sunday’s general election...
He also assured Penangites that the chief minister’s post would be held
by Gerakan should Barisan Nasional win power in Penang. Later, Najib announced at a “Malam 1Malaysia: PM
Bersama Rakyat” gathering, attended by some 30,000 people, that BN,
through 1MDB, would build 9,999 low-medium cost and affordable housing
units, measuring between 700 sq ft and 1,000 sq ft each, in Air Putih,
Air Itam and Paya Terubong. In addition, he said those living in the 962
homes in Kampung Melayu with one bedroom, would be given new
three-bedroom homes as part of the Air Itam affordable housing development. He also assured
Penangites that the undersea tunnelproposedbytheDAP-ledstategovernment
would be scrapped if BN recaptures the state in the polls.
In response to a 20,000-signature petition handed to Najib by Penang
Chinese Town Hall chairman Datuk LumWu Chong for there in statement of
the free port status, he said that this wouldbe granted if the BN was
returned to power in the polls. During the Penang visit, Najib became the first VIP to cross the
entire length of the 24km Second Penang Bridge. The RM4.4 billion
bridge, Southeast Asia's longest, will open to traffic in September. At another event in George Town last night, he presented a letter of
approval to Han Chiang College for it to be upgraded to university
college status, fulfilling BN's promise on Feb 11 to consider the
college's application.
For Penang, Najib cited misplaced policies as the undoing of the DAP government. Instead of finding a solution to the traffic woes, the state government proposed to build the undersea tunnel, which would choke the streets even further. "Penang does not need a third link, but what Penangites need now are affordable homes.

"Penang does not need a third link, but what Penangites need now are affordable homes.
"If they are concerned about Penangites, why have they not built
affordable housing? Why are Penangites still fussing about not being
able to buy affordable housing units? "Development is not for big projects, not for influential people or big
companies, but we must put the people first"...Najib renewed his pledge to build 20,000 affordable homes in Penang
if BN regained the state. He said he was proving that by launching the first project in Air Itam
last night.
When addressing more than 5,000 people earlier in the day in
Perkampungan Juru, a predominantly Chinese village, Najib said there was
a clear understanding in BN about Gerakan holding the chief minister's
post.
"This is our team, the BN team; we always have a clear objective. As
such, the people should give their support to BN." At the event, Najib announced the relocation of the Juru Immigration
depot for foreign workers to an undisclosed site, following complaints
from residents.
Earlier in Alor Star, Najib said he noticed a change in the people's
mood in the state. "Kedahans are eager for a change for the better after five years of
neglect." Najib said the Pas-led government did not deserve a second chance since
it had betrayed the people's trust since 2008. He said BN had carried out most of the pledges it made in the 2008
general election manifesto. "In fact, we have done even more over the past four years, with
numerous initiatives to help the people.
"We want to do even more. What has the opposition done for the people?
They are only good at maki hamun (cursing) us for doing good things for
the people. "In fact, the opposition, as a whole, had only carried out about 15
per cent of its pledges," he said after opening the RM13.2 million SK
Taman Awana in Alor Star. He said BN would build a branch of SMJK (C) Keat Hwa in Pokok Sena
should it win back the state.

Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak mengingatkan rakyat
Terengganu agar membuat pilihan tepat pada Pilihan Raya Umum ke-13
(PRU-13) bagi memastikan negeri itu tidak kembali kepada zaman kegelapan
semasa pemerintahan Pas. Beliau yang meminjam slogan calon Barisan Nasional (BN) Parlimen
Besut, Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh, ‘masihkah kau ingat’, mengingatkan rakyat
Najib memberitahu, terdapat dua perkara mengapa penduduk kawasan
luar bandar terus menyokong kerajaan BN.
A representative from the Pas candidate for in Teluk Kemang constituency had allegedly locked nine ballot boxes at an advance voting centre at Pusat Latihan Asas Tentera Darat (Pusasda) here on Monday.
According to sources, the incident happened at 7.10pm after the voting
process ended while THE Election Commission officers were busy preparing
documentation for 18 ballot boxes which were to be sent to the Port
Dickson police headquarters.
Without the knowledge of the commission officer, the man had locked
nine ballots boxes which had been sealed using locks he had brought
along and refused to opened it prompting the officer-in-charge to call
the police and the returning officer for the constituency. After much negotiation, the man agreed to give the keys and the
commission officer later lodged a report with the police.
In Kuala Lumpur, Bernama report quoted Assistant Head of the IGP
Secretariat (Public Relations) ACP Ramli Mohamed Yusoof that the man had
been released on bail while the case was being investigated under
Section 3 (1) of the Election Offences Act 1954.
Meanwhile, EC deputy chairman Datuk Wan Ahmad Wan Omar said the man
violated the law as agent of the candidate or observer are only allowed
to sign the security sticker on the ballot box after he is satisfied
that it was sealed. "However it seems that he has abused his priviliges to be there by
taking thing into his own hands by sealing the ballot boxes," said Wan
Ahmad when contacted yesterday. He said the commission would consult its legal officer for advises
before proceeding to charge that person.
Wan Ahmad said the law does not allow for the sealed ballot boxes to be
locked even by the contesting candidates themselves for several reasons
including the fact that it would create trouble if the keys went
missing thus interrupting the election process...
The various programmes implemented by the Barisan Nasional government to ensure a better future for people in rural areas was the main reason behind the growing support for the party there, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
He said the fact that communities in rural areas had continued to be
hardcore supporters of BN showed that they understood and appreciate the
efforts taken by the government. Najib said the second reason was that the rural folk have had enough of
the opposition’s empty promises. He also urged the people to choose between the BN transformation
programme and the opposition’s lofty but empty promises.
