THE PRIME MINISTER |
Datuk Seri Najib Razak yesterday took a swipe at the
opposition coalition, saying the pact has no credibility to run the
country as they could not even agree on its main policies. He said it was currently only the campaigning period but the opposition
already faced several issues, including fielding candidates against one
another in certain constituencies. "What will happen to the country if the opposition is given the mandate
to rule? How will they decide on policies for our future? "To manage the country's direction for the future, a government cannot
not be distracted by disagreements"...
On the contrary, he said Barisan Nasional was united and had the
characteristics of a true coalition. "In BN, we have a solid understanding of each other. We have our
differences but when it comes to the country's primary policies, we are
in unison," he said.
Referring to the hudud issue, Najib said the opposition's inability to
agree on the implementation of the Islamic law showed it lacked
credibility to run the country. "Over the past few days, the opposition has released conflicting
statements on hudud. Earlier, it was reported that one opposition party
was hoping to implement hudud while another was against it. "If one wants the people's support then one must gain the people's
trust. How can they expect the people to trust them when they are not
credible?" Najib also told the crowd that he would continue developing Pekan,
which had seen a lot of changes brought by BN.
"There are those who can see the progress but still refuse to
acknowledge it. They choose to be blind but this will not stop me from
bringing progress here," said Najib, urged voters to
continue supporting him so that he could bring more development to the
constituency. "This election is also meaningful to me as I will be contesting as
Pekan member of parliament while I am the prime minister," said Najib
who likened the general election as a major examination where the people
would evaluate BN on its achievements.
Najib also said his campaign programme was so tight that sometimes when
he woke up in the morning he was not sure which state he was in. "But I am determined to meet the people nationwide and win their
support in this crucial election." On his recent two-day visit to Sabah, Najib said he gained new
experiences during the trip when he had to deliver a speech to some
10,000 people in Kota Belud over the telephone. "The helicopter was unable to fly because of bad weather, but I managed
to address them over the telephone."
TRANSFORMATION VS REFORMCRAZY |
ON THE HAND THE FORMER PRIME MINISTER TUN MAHATHIR SAID THAT THE COUNTRY WILL BE IN CHAOS OF THE OPPOSITION GAINS POWER BECAUSE PAKATAN WILL BE PREOCCUPEID WITH FIGTHING OVER PAS' HUDUD PROPOSAL...
The people and country, he said, would be neglected because Pas and its
allies would always be fighting over hudud instead of managing the
country. "Pas is adamant on implementing hudud. However, its two partners are
strongly against it. How can the opposition rule the country since they
will always be at odds with each other, especially when Pas is bent on
implementing hudud? "There is clearly no understanding and agreement between Pas, DAP and
PKR," he said.
The former prime minister voiced his doubts that Pas could implement
hudud since DAP and PKR have strongly objected it. He said Pas was lying to its members, supporters and the rest of the
country with the hudud plan. "It is just a ploy to show the people, especially its members and
supporters, that it is not deviating from its struggle for Islam."
Academic Dr Chandra Muzaffar said giving meaning to
the essence of faith in Islam did not require one to replace the penal
code with hudud and as it was not considered central to the religion. He said hudud had only a small part in the Quran while the essence of
the holy book was justice and human dignity.
"Implementation of hudud does not carry justice to Islam, a religion
created based on peace and justice. "If you see Muslim countries that implement hudud, such as Pakistan and
Saudi Arabia, you will notice that there are aspects in their hudud
which are not contained in Islam, such as the provision to stone
adulterers to death.
"The Quran does not mention this. This goes to show that there is some
form of deviation from the rule of the Quran." Chandra added that Pas' obsession with the implementation of hudud and
issues such as interaction between male and female, morality and
entertainment were clear examples that they were losing the essence of
the religion.
"Islam is not just about male and female interaction and banning entry
for foreign singers but also about essential things such as education
and clean water," said Chandra. "Pas has not proven itself as a truly Islamic leadership because it has
never focused on improving the quality of life of the people and
creating an environment where everyone live in dignity".
"Look at their record. How often have they raised issues such as
education, clean water and improving administration and governance? They
didn't because they are too pre-occupied with hudud. "I don't think a political party which is so pre-occupied with hudud
has the right credentials to lead a country, more so a country like
Malaysia, where 40 per cent of the population are not Muslims."...
THIS IS NOT WHAT THE RAKYAT WANT TO LISTEN. THE RAKYAT MAINLY WANT TO KNOW HOW PAKATAN "SI BIADAP, SI GILA KUASA DAN SI PENDENDAM" CAN IMPLEMENT THE MANIFESTO TABLE TO THE RAKYAT FOR PRU13...THE FORMER PRIME MINISTER HAS ACHIEVED IN BRINGING MALAYSIA TOWARDS "INDUSTRIAL COUNTRY"...ANWAR IBRAHIM ACHIEVEMENT...?????
DATUK Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Wednesday called on former prime minister
Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to "just die" instead of campaigning for
Barisan Nasional. "Sudah mau mati, dah 83 tahun. Berapa la lama lagi? Kalau dah nak mati,
mati saja lah (It's almost time for him to die, at 83 years old. How
long more? If you are going to die, just die)," he said at a ceramah in
Kampung Abdullah here. (Dr Mahathir is actually 87 years old.) Anwar was Dr Mahathir's deputy when the latter was prime minister but
was sacked following allegations of abuse of power and sexual
misconduct. Anwar added in a sarcastic tone that he had forgiven Dr Mahathir, as he
knew the latter would not survive a prison term and that there were no
prisons wanting to accept him as he was too old.
He also called for the premature death of BN, and its component
parties, the MCA and MIC. Earlier, he had accused BN of trying to prevent DAP from using the
party's "Rocket" symbol for the election. "When Pakatan said fine, we will use the moon (Pas's logo) nationwide,
BN panicked and pushed to say DAP can use their rocket logo," claimed
Anwar. He also took a swipe at Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, his wife
Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor and Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin
Yassin.
Salahuddin had also taken up the "premature death" theme, saying BN was
irrelevant and its leaders were "almost dying". He said the Gelang Patah BN candidate, outgoing Johor Menteri Besar
Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman, was a reluctant candidate and DAP supremo Lim
Kit Siang would bury him there.
Dr Mahathir, when asked to comment on Anwar's remarks, said he was
merely exercising his rights of freedom of speech. "The opposition leaders have yet to form the government, but they have
asked the people to shut up. "People had used vulgar words against me when I was the prime minister. "Some of them had even labelled me as firaun (pharaoh), a racist and an
ultra-Malay but I never asked the authorities to arrest them. "So now, why are they trying to deny my right to speak up?"
